NEW MUSIC AND COMMUNITY PROJECT "FREE GRANGE" PROMOTES LOCAL FOODS
Free Grange Productions offers partnerships to organizations supporting local food, to raise funds and increase public awareness of their projects.
Free Grange Productions provides entertaining and educational events to local venues in partnership with farm-supporting organizations, and provides Free Grange products such as CDs and artwork to those organizations to retail for their own fundraising and publicity.
Free Grange is the brainchild of Maine musician and artist Hope Hoffman, who realized how much she depends on and enjoys local farm foods and designed the project to support the success and popularity of fresh, neighborly food sources.
Partnerships can involve community events such as barn dances and public suppers, retail of Free Grange products such as CDs and artwork, and live music to enhance the enjoyment of meals at restaurants, house parties and family events.
The website www.freegrange.org provides links to many food and community resources, upcoming events, retailers of Free Grange products, quick and easy recipes, and partnership opportunities.
Free Grange Productions invites participation in a series of events promoting and supporting local food through fiddle music and community dances.
Organizations supporting local food are selling Free Grange CDs and visual art for their profit and publicity, and purchases of these products directly support those organizations.
Free Grange publications sold by organizations promoting local food include Hope Hoffman's CD "Infinite Winter Squash: New Maine Fiddle Music" at: Royal River Natural Foods in Freeport, Maine. 443 US Route 1, (207)865-0046 (www.rrnf.com); Willow Pond Farm in Sabattus, Maine. 395 Middle Road, (207) 375-6662 (www.willowpf.com); and Good Tern Natural Foods in Rockland, Maine. 750 Main Street, (207) 594-8822 (www.goodtern.com). At Royal River Natural Foods and Good Tern Natural Foods, a portion of sales of this CD goes to the Organization for Transformative Farming (www.OTFinc.org).
Hope Hoffman's CD and concerts feature her original dance tunes on fiddle and viola, inspired by often-humorous stories of friends' and neighbors' experiences with farm foods. Hoffman's imaginative and narrative approach to composing incorporates traditional Maine dance music, with styles including Scots-Irish, French & Scandinavian.
