Music Teachers at the Studio

Tamora Goltz teaches individual and group lessons for beginning violin and intermediate to advanced Celtic and other folk fiddle styles, for ages 7 and up. Tamora has studied with Irish fiddlers Martin Hayes, James Kelly, Oisin MacDiaramada, and Patrick Orceau, and has experience in Medieval, Renaissance, and early Baroque music. She has performed for English, Irish, and New England traditional dancers for 32 years, and has been teaching violin/fiddle for a total of 12 years, including 7 years of lessons at Ashwood Waldorf School. Hope Hoffman has been teaching fiddle music in the Bowdoinham area since 2001, and opened Free Grange Music Studio in the summer of 2009. She enjoys teaching beginners, including many adults, as well as coaching experienced students. Her work at a Montessori preschool and years of teaching children's dance classes provides a creative and engaging teaching style for working with young students and parents (ages 3 and up). Lorel Nazzaro, a co-founder of the Midcoast Symphony and a member of The Northern Lights String Quartet, has been teaching classical violin for 15 years. She draws upon Suzuki materials and methods and, although not a certified Suzuki teacher, has attended the New England Institute for teacher enrichment. She tailors her teaching to each individual's personal learning style, and works with ages 7 and up, including adults. David Stimson teaches beginning, intermediate and advanced lessons in English concertina, tenor banjo, piano and guitar. Guitar lessons can include both dropped-D and regular tuning. David has been playing guitar accompaniment for country dance music for more than 40 years. His style incorporates many inventive chords, and bass notes woven into rhythmic strumming to add interest. Jeff Trippe teaches guitar, mandolin and 5-string banjo. He has been an educator for more than twenty years, working in colleges, private schools, and the Maine public school system. Directions to the Studio

Free Grange Music Studio is located on Center Street in Bowdoinham (at corner of Main St./Route 125; parking/entrance behind Fox Real Estate).

From I-295 take exit 37 for Route 138/ Route 125 toward Bowdoinham/Bowdoin. Turn right at Route 138 (follow signs for Bowdoinham) and go straight past where 138 goes to the left, in order to stay on Route 125/Main St. Continue straight on Route 125/Main St. and turn left onto Center Street.

Routes 201 and 24 intersect with Main Street/Route 125, and are a convenient alternative to I-295.

Once you are on Main St./Route 125, the turn onto Center Street is one-tenth of a mile east of downtown Bowdoinham's waterfront park (if you're coming from Route 24), or a mile west of exit 37 (if you're coming from I-295).

In addition to lovely outdoor signs from the woodworking shop of Paul Baines, visitors arriving can look for the landmark of several pots of colorful flowers on the side of the building.

The flowers mark the entrance of the studio.

The studio is behind the Fox Real Estate building, which is white with red signs/awnings. The restroom is shared with the real estate office and is in the hallway.

There's a restaurant, library and waterfront park all less than a quarter mile from the studio if you'd like to combine errands and social time with music lessons.
